My brother has a Christmas stocking that was made by our great grandmother probably thirty or forty years ago. Due to its age the backing was starting to come off and there was not a good way to display it without risking damage.

I bought some wood at a local wood store and cut it out on a water jet. I engraved away a few sections and inserted some snowflakes I designed and cut on the laser out of wood veneer, and laser cut acrylic to protect and hold it in place. Unfortunately, I made the top a bit to high because I didn’t have the stocking with me, but other than that it turned out well. I certainly wasn’t going to try to do such a detailed veneer ever again.
